Technical aspects, financial and institutional management, environmental and social issues, as well as the implementation process of the resettlement plan related to the construction of the Vulcănești–Chișinău 400 kV overhead power line were reviewed on Tuesday during a working meeting of the World Bank mission in Chișinău.

The implementation team of the Power System Development Project of Moldova from the Consolidated Unit for Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE) and representatives of SE Moldelectrica presented the project implementation status and priorities for the upcoming period.

The director of UCIPE, Ruslan Surugiu, appreciated that preparatory works are being carried out on time, and the resettlement plan will be implemented under conditions set in accordance with the World Bank’s rigorous standards.

The teams visited the Chișinău electric substation of SE Moldelectrica, which is planned to be modernized within the Project. Today, the World Bank evaluation mission will continue with meetings and field visits to assess the progress of the second project for improving the efficiency of the centralized thermal energy supply system in Chișinău Municipality (PIESACET-2).

The Power System Development Project of the Republic of Moldova, valued at 61 million euros, is financed by the World Bank and aims at constructing the 400 kV high-voltage overhead power line on the Vulcănești–Chișinău route, modernizing/expanding two electric substations, and strengthening the dispatching and metering system of SE Moldelectrica.
