Initiation of the Energy Audit in the Beneficiary Institutions of the "Energy Efficiency in the Republic of Moldova" Project

31 Oct 2022

In 6 out of the 9 institutions selected under the first phase of the "Energy Efficiency in the Republic of Moldova" Project, visits were conducted to collect relevant data/information that will be used in the development of energy audit reports.

The energy audit aims to assess the current condition of the building envelope and related engineering systems, analyze the energy resource consumption recorded within the institution, and estimate the potential for energy savings by presenting technical and/or organizational measures in this regard, including a justification of their technical and economic feasibility.

It is worth noting that the Project will contribute to increasing energy efficiency in public buildings such as republican hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and healthcare institutions across the country. The project will include building envelope rehabilitation, renovation of interior lighting, and implementation of more energy-efficient heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, along with the integration of renewable energy sources and the introduction of efficient energy management practices.

The total value of the Project is approximately €76.9 million, of which €30 million is allocated by the European Investment Bank (EIB), €30 million by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), €15 million by the European Union, €0.5 million by the Eastern Partnership Technical Assistance Trust Fund (EPTATF), and €1.4 million by the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The project is set to run until 2025.
