Information workshops regarding the implementation of the STEEM project and the installation of Individual Heat Substations

8 Jul 2025

Representatives of public institutions in the capital, which are to benefit from the installation of Individual Heat Substations , were informed about the advantages of the latest generation equipment and the implementation stages of the project during a series of informative workshops, held from July 3 to 9, 2025.

The “Sustainable Transition through Energy Efficiency in Moldova” (STEEM) project provides for the energy rehabilitation of about 46 educational institutions throughout the country, as well as the installation of about 300 ITPs in several public buildings in Chisinau, thus contributing to the modernization of heating systems and increasing the energy efficiency of institutions.

The information sessions were conducted by specialists from the MEPIU and the company “Termoelectrica” S.A. They provided technical details and answered participants' questions regarding the functionality of the new installations, the benefits of the modernization, the implementation deadlines and the specific procedures for the installation works.

It is a modern installation that ensures the transfer of thermal energy from the district heating system - to the internal systems of the building for heating, ventilation and domestic hot water preparation.

Individual Heat Substations offer a number of advantages to both the beneficiary public institutions and the thermal energy supplier, through:

  • Improving the quality of services
  • Reducing thermal energy consumption
  • Energy efficiency
  • Setting and regulating the temperature, depending on the need, via the control panel
  • Automatic adjustment of thermal energy consumption, depending on the outdoor air temperature – thanks to the temperature sensor, which automatically regulates the temperature of the thermal agent delivered to the building’s heating system
  • Preparation of hot water, directly in the basement of the building and instant delivery at the set temperature
  • As well as uniform distribution of thermal energy in the building

This project is implemented by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, through the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Moldova and MEPIU, with the support of the World Bank. The Project Beneficiary is Termoelectrica S.A..
