The international conference “The Importance of CHP Plants for Energy Security and the Efficiency of Centralized Heating. Solutions and Challenges” took place in Chișinău. The event brought together over 100 guests, including energy specialists, representatives of central and local public authorities, energy operators from both the Republic of Moldova and abroad, as well as members of the academic community and civil society.
During the conference, the following topics were addressed:
- Presentation of the system study regarding CHP plants in Chișinău and their development;
- Development of national strategies to increase energy produced through cogeneration;
- Exploiting the potential of existing CHP plants and expanding new generation sources;
- The role of all involved parties, including local public authorities, in ensuring energy security and the efficiency of centralized heating, among others.
The conference participants exchanged views on the role of CHP plants and their development prospects in the Republic of Moldova.
In her speech, Aurelia Samson, Director of UCIPE, summarized the energy system modernization projects and efforts to strengthen the country's energy security, implemented with full participation from UCIPE.
Additionally, Aurelia Samson presented the benefits of the SACET project and assessed its effectiveness: “UCIPE and the World Bank are loyal partners for Termoelectrica in implementing one of the most important energy projects, which has become an example of good practice. After four years of implementation, we have visible results.”
Ms. Samson also informed the audience about the next steps that SA Termoelectrica and its partners will take to consolidate the results of the SACET project and ensure the stability of the centralized heating system in Chișinău.
This is the third edition of the conference, aiming to create a platform for communication, debate, and interaction focused on identifying opportunities to modernize and develop the national energy system and provide citizens with quality energy services.
